A Special Appointment Order issued by Yang, Magistrate of Xiangshan County, Guangzhou Prefecture, holding an additional rank and recorded in the official register (Rank Nine), concerning the supervision of tax collection:
It is hereby recorded that the Western Resident Officials—namely, Anleduo et al.—have now duly submitted and settled the following silver payments. Having exempted these funds from storage in the county treasury pending further instruction, this official receipt (*kushou*) is hereby issued for their formal acknowledgment and compliance.
This receipt certifies the actual receipt of the following sums due for the year *Qianlong* 44 (AD 1779):
- Land rent levied on the Macau enclave (*Houjing’ao*): **500 taels of silver**;
- Subsistence allowance (*yanglian yin*) for the provincial governor’s office and circuit intendant’s office: **15 taels of silver**.
Right: This official treasury receipt (*kushou*) is issued to the foreign headman *Anlueduo* for his personal custody and record.
